My commitment to advocacy extends to both inside and outside of court. As a leader in the legal community, I am currently the co-chair of the Diversity and Membership Committee for the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I am also an active member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I am a frequent speaker on panels for young and aspiring criminal defense attorneys.
In the spirit of defending women, children, and members of the Muslim community, I have published several articles such as “Give Juveniles Their Due” in The Marshall Project and “#MeToo, Persky, and Erosion of Mercy in Criminal Justice” for The Mercury Times. I am often asked to provide information to reporters for articles about the criminal court system.
One of my greatest passions outside of defending my clients is teaching other lawyers the skills essential to being an effective trial advocate. My skills have been nationally recognized by other lawyers who have asked me to teach at their offices and events. I have presented on Storytelling in Trial, Closing Argument, and Cross Examination.
